Born: Moscow, Russia
Trained: Moscow Choreographic Academy in Russia
There are so many things in life that I would like to experience, but my destiny is to share the power and magic of dance. What is your favourite ballet?
I love the classical ballets where I get to act and I prefer the more dramatic ones like Giselle and Romeo and Juliet. I love telling a story through dancing because it makes the steps more meaningful to me.
What is your fashion style outside of work?
I like classical and casual, elegant style. How do you handle criticism?
I’ve never been afraid of being judged. I know, I’m not perfect. We can’t control what other people will say to us, but we can control how we internalize it, respond to it and learn from it. Being yourself is always the best way to go.
When are you most proud of yourself?
I have two beautiful kids, Maxim and Eva, and I’m very proud to be called their Mom. What is the best advice you’ve been given?
From my Mom. “Sisters make the best friends in the world.” I’m so lucky to have two wonderful sisters. Which movie could you watch on repeat?
Roman Holiday with Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck.
What is your favourite colour?
Green.
Milk chocolate or dark?
I love chocolate. I always have a little milk chocolate before a show. Do you have a favourite quotation?
“To be creative means to be in love with life. You can be creative only if you love life enough that you want to enhance its beauty, you want to bring a little more music to it, a little more poetry to it, a little more dance to it.” – OshoSvetlana Lunkina is sponsored through Dancers First by Anna McCowan-Johnson and Donald K. Johnson, O.C.
