If someone handed you $1,000,000 tomorrow, you would…
If someone gave me $1,000,000 tomorrow I would use it to travel. I would pick a country and rent a car so that I could drive and explore all its different cities and regions.Which movie could you watch on repeat?
One of my family’s favourite movies is Moonstruck. I think I could watch that on repeat just because it makes me happy, but in general I don’t like watching things more than once.
Have you ever had an embarrassing moment performance-wise?
For sure. I have bad luck with slips and falls, they always seem to happen on “centre centre”.When you have a day off, what’s your favourite way to spend it?
Often, on my days off, I like to visit my family and spend time with them. I’m lucky to have them living close to me. If I don’t do that, then I’ll spend the weekend at home enjoying some down time with my friends and roommates.
Where in the world would you like to see yourself living some day?
I went to Italy this past summer. I fell in love with the country and would love to live there someday.
Milk chocolate or dark?
DarkDo you ever feel as magical as you look when you dance, or is it mainly just hard work and focus up there?
I think I feel more magical than I look sometimes. Maybe that’s why dancers don’t like watching themselves on video, because performing onstage feels great in the moment, but when we watch ourselves, we can’t help but notice the technical things we’re working on.
What’s the biggest misconception about you and why?
I’ve been told I have a natural poker face and people assume I’m sad or mean. I’m not usually sad and I like to think I’m not mean. What cheers you up on an off day?
On an off day, I can always count on my roommates to cheer me up. I live with three of my best friends, so no matter what, they will find a way to make me smile. Also, I like to call home and hear about the misadventures of my three family cats! What is your definition of a successful ballet dancer?
I think that if you approach your job everyday with the intention of doing your best, you are successful. We can’t always be perfect, and everyone has off days, but if you go home proud of the work you’ve done, knowing that you’ve given it your all, then you’re successful.
Do you have any bad habits that you’re working on breaking?
I think my worst habit is picking/biting my nails. It’s a nervous habit that I’ve had for so long I don’t know how to stop!Read Larissa’s bio, http://national.ballet.ca/Meet/Dancers/Corps/Larissa-Khotchenkova
